Careers Advice and Guidance
What is Careers Advice and Guidance?
Careers Advice and Guidance has similarities to counselling in that it aims to provide the individual with options from which informed
decisions can be made.
A major difference is that the adviser must have up to date information about the whole range of options available. These must be presented to the individual in a structured format so that the informed decision can then be made.
Effective advice and guidance can help an individual progress to career goals that initially appeared unattainable.
It can also help identify unrealistic goals at an early stage usually in circumstances where the training is far more demanding that had been anticipated or where job opportunities on qualification are exceptionally limited.
The process of applying for higher education and the fee structure has become increasingly complex over recent years.
Careers advice can be tremendously beneficial in identifying the options, determining the fees and assisting with applications.
